A truck has driven into pedestrians between Drottninggatan and the central train station at around 14.55 (local time). There have been reports of at least two deaths and further injuries. The vehicle has come to a halt at the entrance of the Ahlens department store. The surrounding area has been cordoned off and the city's metro system closed. Details are still emerging and we have security experts in the location monitoring the issue; more to follow.

We are currently advising the following actions:

  • Avoid the area.
  • Expect a heightened security force presence and travel disruption in the vicinity.
  • Follow all directives issued by the authorities.
  • Monitor our alerts on Sweden for further details.
