International SOS and Control Risks advising client organisations in Ukraine
London
Travel security experts are offering advice and information to thousands of travellers and expatriates in Ukraine, along with those planning to visit the country in the coming days and weeks.
Members are being advised to avoid all non-essential travel to Ukraine, due to the significant escalation of violence in recent days.
Detailed and regular updates are being provided. General advice includes the following:
• Travellers in central Kyiv should continue to avoid all protests and identified flashpoint areas around Independence Square and at other key locations.
• Personnel in the city should choose routes carefully due to significant movement restrictions, and be able to leave the city quickly in case of a further deterioration in security.
• Sporadic disruption to rail and road travel should be anticipated in light of the existing movement restrictions. There may be reduced availability when attempting to book flights.
• For essential business travel, book flexible tickets and be prepared to cut short or cancel trips at short notice.
• Members should continue to monitor our travel security alerts on Ukraine for further updates, analysis and advice.
• Travellers who transit through Ukraine on the way to, or returning from, the Winter Games in Sochi should keep up to date with the latest travel security advice for the region.
