International SOS Award for Innovation Culture

RWTH Aachen and Fraunhofer Institute for Production Technology acknowledge innovative concepts and solutions by International SOS in the fields of telemedicine and digital travel risk management

International SOS, the world’s leading medical and travel security risk services company, was recognised as one of the most innovative companies from among 132 organisations from Europe, China and the US.

The award was received as part of the consortial benchmarking “Managing Breakthrough Innovations” conducted by the Invention Center of the Technical University at Aachen (Rheinisch-Westfälische Technische Hochschule Aachen, RWTH).

In the selection process, all nominated companies were assessed on several criteria. The final review included a visit to the headquarters of International SOS in London to see how innovation is implemented in the organisation. The award recipient was determined by experts from leading German brands. 

“International SOS has demonstrated that pioneering innovations is possible even on the basis of existing technologies,” confirms Casimir Ortlieb, head of the Breakthrough Innovations initiative at RWTH Aachen’s Invention Center, responsible for carrying out the study. “Defined processes, systematic procedures and a firm anchoring of the company strategy have led to increased sales and efficiency as well as a gain of new markets.”

One of the examples cited of the innovation culture of International SOS was its TeleHealth services. International SOS is the first company in the world to be certified to ISO/TS 13131.
