International SOS expands its China Clinic Network to TEDA

International SOS, the world's leading medical and security services company, on Thursday held an official ribbon-cutting ceremony to inaugurate the opening of a new international healthcare clinic in TEDA (Tianjin Economic-Technological Development Area), China.

The new clinic, which is an extension of its existing Tianjin clinic, is International SOS' fifth in China, with others already established in Beijing, Tianjin downtown and Nanjing.

At the official opening ceremony on Thursday, John Williams, Managing Director at International SOS China and Chairman of the Tianjin clinic board, said, "The TEDA area of Tianjin is becoming an ideal location for companies which set up offices and factories here, relying on the proximity to the nearby port and Beijing. International SOS is a company that follows its clients and serves their medical needs wherever they may be, and with so many companies in TEDA today, it is clearly shaping up to be one of China's top business hubs."

International SOS first established a clinic in Tianjin, China in 1995, to offer its members in the region emergency services, primary care and dispensary services. Similarly, the new Tianjin TEDA International SOS Clinic will bring international standards of medical care closer to its China-based members who travel to, live or work in the TEDA area.

The new Tianjin TEDA International SOS Clinic will offer family physicians that speak English, Chinese, Japanese and French, in order to cater for the diverse makeup of the TEDA community. The clinic is connected to the Beijing and Tianjin downtown clinics, as well as the International SOS China Assistance Center, which is able to coordinate emergency evacuations out of the Tianjin and Binhai areas to local hospitals or to the Tianjin International Airport and Beijing Capital Airport for international evacuation when needed.

"We hope to make a positive contribution to the development of TEDA's healthcare landscape. We are grateful for all the support that we have received from our partners, the Tianjin and TEDA Health Bureaus, and the local authorities who have made this opening possible," said Mr. Williams.
