INTERNATIONAL SOS FOUNDATION ANNOUNCES SHORTLIST FOR 2016 DUTY OF CARE AWARDS

Organisations demonstrate their focus on overseas workers’ safety, security and health


The International SOS Foundation announces the shortlist for the 2016 Duty of Care Awards. The awards honour individuals and teams who have made a significant contribution to protecting people working or travelling abroad. 

Judges reviewed more than 100 entries, representing more than 18 industries and from organisations in 29 countries.1 Organisations submitted nominations regarding their Duty of Care programmes in one of the following categories: Innovation, Thought Leadership, Resilient Care, Communication, and Partnership.

Organisations on the shortlist for the 2016 Duty of Care Awards are:




Laurent Fourier, Director of the International SOS Foundation, said: 

“We are extremely pleased to see the focus organisations are placing on the safety and wellbeing of their employees and travellers. The high number of award submissions shows Duty of Care is high on the agenda of organisations with global travellers. Better still is the submission of entries across industries and countries around the world.”

The Duty of Care Awards recognise organisations and individuals who have made a significant contribution to protecting their staff as they travel and work overseas.

Winners will be chosen and presented an award for each of the five categories at the awards gala dinner on Thursday, 16 June 2016 at The Mira Boutique Hotel, Hong Kong.

Established in 2011, the International SOS Foundation ― Ambassadors for Duty of Care www.internationalsosfoundation.org – has the goal of improving the safety, security, health and welfare of people working abroad or on remote assignments through the study, understanding and mitigation of potential risks. The escalation of globalisation has enabled more individuals to work across borders and in unfamiliar environments; exposure to risks which can impact personal health, security and safety increases along with travel. 

The foundation is a registered charity and was started with a grant from International SOS. It is a fully independent, non-profit organisation.

  • 18 Industries: Submissions were received from organisations in Agriculture, Automotive, Chemical, Corporate, Defence, EMI, Finance, Financial, Food, High-tech, Hospitality, Media, NGO, Professional Services, Retail, Scholastic, Sports & Leisure and Telecomms.
