International SOS joins International Air Ambulance Alliance as Associate Member

International SOS, the world’s leading medical and security services company, recently joined the International Air Ambulance Alliance, an organization that ensures continuous improvement of industry standards and patient care, as an Associate Member.
“We applaud the efforts of IAAA to focus on implementing quality standards for fixed wing air ambulance operators,” said Patrick Deroose, General Manager, Corporate Assistance, at International SOS.
In addition to membership, Dr. Albert Castaño, Medical Director Assistance and Regional Flight Desk, Americas Region, International SOS; and Kelly Nelson, Deputy Regional Flight Desk Manager, Americas, also with International SOS, will provide invaluable support to the IAAA board by sharing their independent medical and operational expertise, offering a broad and global perspective on aviation medicine and patient care.

The IAAA minimum standards for IAAA Fixed Wing Membership is:
They are owner operators of fixed wing aircraft, or have an exclusive lease and have operational and economic control of their aircraft.
Operate with business transparency between the payers, the patient and FW operator.
The FW operator must have a reputation of trust and integrity.
Comply with document formalities, ranging from insurance requirements, certificate of air worthiness, air operators certificate etc....
Has a medical accreditation that is recognised within the air ambulance industry.
Complies with recognised Operational and Maintenance (Aviation) standards.
Becomes accountable to the IAAA for non-compliance of these standards.
