International SOS marks 100000 downloads of its travel assistance app with new on-line Spot the Risk

14 December 2012 ,  —

Today International SOS marked a milestone in its effort to provide mobile travel assistance solutions for business travellers and expatriates by announcing that the company’s travel assistance application* for members has achieved over 100,000 downloads.

The announcement was made as International SOS launches its new ‘Spot the Risk’ campaign to drive awareness of health and travel security issues that travellers and expatriates may face whilst abroad.

‘Spot the Risk’ campaign launched
In order to further promote health and travel security awareness whilst travelling, International SOS has launched its new ‘Spot the Risk’ campaign, which includes an online interactive game to test travellers’ knowledge and offer tips to keep them healthy, safe and secure. It also encourages customers to download the free app.
The game will run until 28th February 2013. It offers players around the world the chance to test their health and travel security knowledge against 10 questions and battle it out to get the highest score on the global leaderboard. Predominantly a client focused initiative, International SOS has opened up this campaign freely in order to spread the responsible message that prevention and education are paramount when travelling and staying safe.

Chris Edwards, Managing Partner of Tommy, who helped design and built the campaign said: “Spot the Risk was a great and technologically challenging project to be involved in. We looked to create an experience that allowed users to play the game on all devices, so at home, work or even in the departure lounge on their smartphone. This was the key in ensuring that all travellers had the maximum chance to mitigate any potential risks.”

The app
“This app delivers key medical and travel security information directly into the hands of business travellers and expatriates, which is important because extensive preparation is key to travelling safely,” said Kate Holden, SVP and Group General Manager, Information and Tracking Services at International SOS. “The technology gives travellers the peace of mind and confidence to go anywhere in the world, knowing that they are constantly up to date with all the latest information.”

As the only medical and travel security app to have been downloaded by more than 100,000 people, this service is crucial to International SOS’ commitment to promote preparedness and awareness amongst travellers and expatriates. The app is strongly integrated with International SOS’ global assistance infrastructure so members are provided with immediate access to location-specific alerts as they are issued by the International SOS medical and travel security teams.
