International SOS response to conflict between Sudan and South Sudan
London
International SOS, the world's leading medical and security services company, and Control Risks, the world's leading global risk consultancy firm are providing advice and emergency assistance to clients who have travelers and employees in the border vicinity of Sudan and South Sudan.
Hostilities between Sudan and South Sudan have escalated significantly since 11 April, when the South Sudanese armycrossed the border into a key oil-producing region claimed by both sides. On 22-23 April, the Sudanese air force bombed several towns in Unity state (South Sudan), killing at least three civilians.
While the situation could stabilise in the coming days, the travel risk in the border areas is extreme due to risks from continuing military clashes.
A crisis management team has been established at International SOS' London assisstance center, supported by a team in Dubai. The teams have been working to identify and communicate with affected clients and align support resources should evacuations be needed.
Our level of evacuation notification remains at “stand by”—monitor the situation and be prepared to evacuate should the situation worsen.Clients and members who are affected are encouraged to call one of International SOS' 27 assistance centers for assistance. Up-to-date information, advice, and analysis are available via the International SOS membership website (https://www.internationalsos.com/) within the Travel Security Online section.
