London

International SOS is pleased to be a patron of this year’s XX World Congress on Safety and Health at Work. The event takes place at the Congress Centre in Frankfurt, Germany from 24 August until 27 August 2014. It is a global forum for prevention, medical and occupational health experts.

International SOS will be running different activities to highlight the importance of prevention policies that protect the health and safety of business travellers and expatriates.

On 26 August between 10:00 – 11:00 Dr. Stefan Eßer, Medical Director, International SOS Central Europe, and Dr. David Gold from the International SOS Foundation, will be hosting a workshop on global occupational safety and health standards to protect workers travelling or on foreign assignment.  This event will link to the organisation’s Global Framework, which is the world’s first such document looking at aspects of Duty of Care for safety on business journeys and foreign assignments.

On 26 August 2014 between 16:00 – 18:00 Dr Eßer will speak about Malaria, Tuberculosis and HIV prevention. The symposium is focusing on the relation between occupational safety and health and corporate social responsibility and is an opportunity to present key practical examples.

“Being a patron of the World Congress on Safety and Health at Work is a real privilege. It is a great opportunity to come together with many varied organisations to focus on the importance of having strong preventative cultures in the workplace” says Dr Eßer.  “The congress brings people together who know that putting the security and health of their employee comes first. Doing this  brings many benefits to their organisation and the individuals working for it. This is exactly what we here at International SOS are trying to achieve on a daily basis with our staff and our clients.”

The World Congress is expected to attract over 4,000 participants from more than 100 countries. In 2014 the event’s motto is ‘sharing a vision for sustainable prevention’. The motto characterises the three main topics that will be addressed by the technical sessions of the congress: Prevention Culture – Prevention Strategies – Vision Zero, Challenges in Occupational Health and Diversity in the World of Work.
