Mongolia bestows the Order of the Polar Star to International SOS Chairman
Paris
Arnaud Vaissié, Co-Founder, Chairman and CEO of International SOS, has been recognised for International SOS medical services in Ulaanbaatar by the government of Mongolia.
The Order of AltanGadas (Order of the Polar Star) is the highest civilian award Mongolia can present to a foreign citizen. The Polar Star was presented to Mr Vaissié by Mr Bold Luvsanvandan, Member of the Mongolian Parliament and former Minister for Foreign Affairs of Mongolia (2012-14), at a dinner held in Paris on 6th July.
Mr Vaissié said the following during his acceptance:
"It is a great honour to accept this award on behalf of International SOS. The strength of our services owes much to the support we receive from national partners and health authorities as they endeavour to develop international health care services for their country’s citizens and its visitors."
In 2003, International SOS opened Mongolia’s first international clinic and emergency services centre in Ulaanbaatar with the support of Mr Bold Luvsanvandan. Reflecting on the history and growth of their operations in Mongolia, Arnaud Vaissié added:
“The vision, initiative and support provided by Mr Bold Luvsanvandan was instrumental in the success of the International SOS medical services in Mongolia. It was because of his vision and initiative that residents and visitors can enjoy the highest quality of medical service available. Mr Luvsanvandan’s sister, Sara, is running the clinic for us, she is an excellent partner and our relationship is very strong.”
Today, the clinic is known as SOS Medica Mongolia UB International, and serves individuals, businesses and entities from a range of different industries. The clinic is committed to excellence in the delivery of international standard healthcare solutions and outstanding customer service to all clients.
International SOS also cited the clinic’s experienced and dedicated national and expatriate doctors and quality operational staff as key to delivering the highest standards of international medical care to patients.
Introduced in 1936, the Order of the Polar Star (AltanGadas) is the highest state honour of Mongolia. Previous recipients include President Barack Obama, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Senator John McCain.
