State-of-the-Art Medical Centre in Talatona

Leading provider of medical and travel security risk services, International SOS, has opened a new Medical Centre in Talatona, Angola. The ceremony was held on the 24th September, and was officiated by the Minister of Health, Dr Jose Vieira Dias Van-Dunem, who formally opened the centres doors.

Dr Jose Vieira Dias Van-Dunem, Minister of Health, Angola, commented:

“I’m delighted to be able to come and open this new medical facility and I am honoured to be the International SOS guest of honour, may this partnership with the Angolan government grow from strength to strength.”

This fully functional clinic provides for comprehensive family-focused medical care. The facility has diagnostic capabilities with an in-house laboratory and radiology room and also includes an observation and isolation ward. The centre provides child and adult vaccination services, specialist medical practises like Paediatrics, as well as medication, medical equipment and supplies.

The centre began assisting International SOS members in December 2014. Today, it administers approximately 500 – 600 consultations per month through a team of highly skilled and qualified medical professionals. Medical and support staff at the centre speak English and Portuguese.

Francisco Homem, General Manager International SOS, Angola said:

“We built this facility to support our growing client base in Angola and to provide our members with the best possible quality of medical care. We are proud to offer such quality and to be a part of the Angola community.”

Emergency services and ground ambulance services are available 24/7 for patient stabilisation and to support medical evacuations if needed. The buildings’ close proximity to the airport enables ease of access for emergency medical transportation to and from Luanda airport.

Dr. Alberto Valente, Medical Director for International SOS, Angola said:

“International SOS operates in accordance with the highest international standards of medical care. We can provide Oil and Gas United Kingdom (OGUK) certified medical health checks that are provided by our in-house OGUK certified medical professionals. The Talatona International SOS Medical Centre is also 9001 certified by IQ NET Management Systems, which means our process, facilities and services meet with the highest international standards.”

International SOS operates clinics around the world. The organisation has been operating in Angola since 2003, with an administrative office based at the Talatona International SOS Medical Centre. International SOS also operates a medical centre in Ilha that provides occupational health services and medical care to its members and their families. The new Talatona facility is located at Rua S10, Sector de Talatona, Zone CC-B2.

This year International SOS celebrates 30 years of service and industry leadership. To commemorate the occasion, they introduced an updated corporate brand identity to reflect their growth, innovation and worldwide reach. The Talatona International SOS medical centre is the first clinic to reflect the fresh new brand in Africa.
