Update: Tianjin Blast

A fire at a warehouse in the Binhai Port area of Tianjin Municipality resulted in two large explosions on 12th August at around 11.20 pm.
Immediately after the explosion International SOS staff provided triage and first aid treatment for the seriously injured. In addition, International SOS sent a team to Tianjin to ensure continued support to our clients and members.
The International SOS Tianjin TEDA clinic has been temporarily closed until further notice due to the on-going clean-up and disposal of chemicals in the region.
The International SOS Clinic in Tianjin City will be open as usual and all members have 24/7 access to information and support from the International SOS Assistance Centre.Travel Advice
- Travel to Tianjin can continue.
- Defer non-essential travel to the Binhai port area due to the risk of further explosions and potential associated release of toxic airborne chemicals.
- At a minimum, members in the Binhai port area should strictly avoid a 1.8-mile (3km) radius around the chemical warehouse and explosion-damaged areas. Follow all security force directives.
- Anticipate travel disruption in the Binhai New Area district due to road closures and related safety measures.
- International SOS members are encouraged to contact their nearest Assistance Centre for profile- and itinerary-specific advice.
- Members should monitor International SOS travel security alerts on China for further developments.
